Ah ha! First iPhone Update

Well, the first iPhone update finally got here, can't say I'm too excited about it since it was pretty much a firmware kind of thing and not the update I was hoping for...using the keyboard in the horizontal position with every app. Maybe that one will be next. I will be BOLO'ing for it ("be on the lookout").

I received an email from a guy named Brian letting me know about a new app for the iPhone that will let you upload your Word documents so that you can view them on your iPhone. The link can be found at: http://i.box.net.

It's definitely a pretty cool and useable app, I did try it and can say that I liked it. It won't open up PowerPoint files though, there was one I uploaded and it didn't work. The only thing that kind of weirds me out about this iPhone stuff is that everything has to be connected to a website. Maybe I'm coming across like a dinosaur, but I'm pretty used to my docs on my PDA and well, everything on my PDA is ON the device - it is all installed internally on the PDA and only my eyes have acess to it. Granted, no one else is going to be logging on to i.Box.net and reading my files, unless I choose to share them, and yes there is an option for you to do that if you wish. However, is anything really genuinely secure online? Probably not and we all go along with the flow because we just do. I did add a bunch of really cool apps that appear as "Widgets" on the iPhone screen. The apps are all really cool. I like the weather ones and of course the games, but you have to access all of them via Safari. Soooo, what if you're not surfing on Wifi and EDGE is acting stupid like it seems to often enough and you don't have service? So much for using the cool apps, huh? No such thing as perfection...and that is okay because I'm still enjoying the hell out of my iPhone.

A co-worker read my blog and told me his daughter said that "every other word in her blog is iPhone", LOL. It would be funny to Google my blog using "iPhone" as the key word and then view it with the cache link where what you searched for is highlighted...I wonder just how many times do I actually use the word iPhone in my blog....hmmmm

Oh ~ before I forget...you've probably heard of it by now, but finally there is a very good and user friendly program for ringtones. It's a piece of cake to use and now I have the theme from CSI set as my ringtone again and Henri Mancini's Pink Panther theme on it, too. In one of my upcoming posts I will include some websites regarding the iPhone that are turning out to be ones I'm going to frequently. Right now I have to get back to my studying. This is the last assignment for my anthro class and I'm so glad. I wish I could have a break but now I have to start cramming for the GRE as I have to take it by August 31st to officially get into the Master's program at UF. Wish me luck, I'm gonna need it. Algebra was never my friend to begin with and that was a long time ago.

My keyboard is driving me nuts. I really, really like this keyboard. It has the perfect touch to it, but the keys are sticking. When you type a gazillion words a minute this can be problematic. I guess I'll be in Office Depot or Office Max tomorrow. Anyone know how to clean a keyboard? I wonder if too much snackage has gotten stuck amongst the keys and that is causing the problem. Can't remember that I spilled anything liquid over it.

Oh, and by the way...any of you guys over at Gizmodo...I'm kinda upset with you. I have been reading your website and praising your efforts for a couple of years now. I have even turned fairly high level geeks onto your website that didn't know about it until I told them. I tried to post a comment on your site, and read that all comments must be approved and if they pass whatever test you put it through, then your comment gets posted. Well, what kind of crap is that? Here I am a loyal reader and have spread the Gizmodo word to soooo many people, and my comment never appeared. So, I guess the SushiLvr wasn't good enough for you guys. That's fine, cuz I started my own blog damnit. So there.... and if you're wondering, I'll still be checking out your website because it definitely is one of the most awesome sites out there for geeks and Gizmodo does rock. No offense on my disappointment with not being able to be an official commentator, K?

Well, as Nancy Grace would say "Goodnight Friend"...
